Sennet's been running silent and deep, but
now we're back at periscope depth. We've
got message traffic to send.
Sennet has firm orders for a liberty port visit in Myrtle Beach, SC.
We have locked in the dates and location for our next All
Hands Reunion. Mark your
calendars for some really great liberty on October
11-15, 2009 in Myrtle Beach, SC.
That's next year - 2009, and it's in Myrtle Beach not Charleston.
It's still a little too early to make reservations, but we can tell you
this:
We have booked a great reunion location at the Landmark
resort which is right on the ocean beach, and your beach front rooms will cost
you less than they did in Chasn. You
can learn more about our hotel resort on the Internet at http://www.Landmarkresort.com
In addition to
being right on the beach, at the Landmark you'll enjoy indoor and outdoor pools,
a lap pool, a lazy river for the floaters, a water park, and a whirlpool.
What more could an old salt ask for?
Well, how about a 9 hole putt-putt course for you wanna be duffers and
free wireless internet for everyone. Is
there more? You bet!
Landmark's rooms have private balconies, refrigerators, microwaves, and
in-room safes. And if you fly into
Myrtle Beach, Landmark provides a free shuttle service to / from the airport, so
you won't need a rental car or taxi.
Reunion rates range from $40 to $63 night (plus taxes & resort fees) for a variety of accommodations from the economy Interior-View Rooms to the Deluxe Ocean Front Suites. Like we said above, it's a little too early to make your reservations now, but we have a block of rooms reserved for our reunion and will provide more information in the near future. You can begin making reservations in November of this year by calling 1-800-845-0658.
The hotel has agreed to extend our special room rates (based on availability) for early arrivals and / or late departures so that for crew members and their families can make their visit to Myrtle Beach a whole family vacation.
Like any good liberty port, there are lots of things to see and do in Myrtle Beach. We are currently looking at theaters and restaurants for a "dinner and show" evening. Of course Myrtle Beach is famous for it's fabulous golf courses and beautiful sandy beaches. You can get a peek at the Myrtle Beach attractions by going to http://www.mbchamber.com
We will be dialing in activities as we progress and you will be kept posted on arrangements by Newsletters as we've done in the past. Please feel free to pass along your ideas, suggestions and any questions. If you know of any former Sennet Crew Member out there, lost in the fog, please, let us know and have him contact us.

The
United States Submarine Veterans of World War II (USSVWWII) will be formerly
ceasing operations as a national organization at the end of 2009. The
ranks of WWII veterans are being thinned daily, and this loss of membership has
made maintaining their national structure no longer practical. Past
members are being encouraged to join The United States Submarine Veterans Inc. (USSVI).
Many have, and in a few cases are still maintaining their local group
autonomy. Responsibility for maintenance of memorials and museum displays
previously created by USSVWWII will be assumed by USSVI.
Ralph
Luther and I want to reassure all the Sennet crew, that just as long as he can
roll the diesels and I can navigate, we will continue to host "all hands"
reunions for the entire Sennet crew.
